Despite the fact that all Rotary fundraising activities have been suspended for the foreseeable future due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Rotary Club of Parksville AM is continuing its commitment to local community organizations when their need is greatest.
Salvation Army Food Bank
A donation in the amount of $3000 has been made to the Salvation Army Food Bank. There are many families and individuals in our community who are falling through the gaps in government programs and who will quickly exhaust their resources.  The demand has increased significantly in light of so many layoffs, and the Food Bank is having to use funds now, that they hoped could be used throughout the year.

The Rotary Club of Parksville AM has always supported the Salvation Army for the good they do to help the needy and feed the hungry. There are many people out of work and lining up for food banks and there was unanimous support to use our reserves to do what we could to help.

The Rotary Club of Parksville AM has an ongoing relationship with the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre, and it is at this time of year that they are incurring their main expenditures. They are closed to the public so have no revenue coming in, yet they desperately need funding so they can care for the many injured animals and orphans that they receive at this time of year.
A donation of $2000 was made by the Club to help meet the daily food and health care needs of the animals.  The NIWRA slogan is “They depend on us.  We depend on you”, and our Club is proud to support this initiative.
Both these organizations continue to need the support of the community as they deal with this unprecedented time in global history. We encourage readers to visit their websites through the above links and see if you might be able to help as well.
The Rotary Club of Parksville AM will resume its regular fundraising activities once restrictions are lifted, and will continue to support initiatives such as these, both locally and internationally.
